06 May – Communication of acceptance for inclusion in Issue 1

01 July – Publication of Issue 1 online with selected extracts in the print edition

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
As part of the submission process, authors are required to confirm that their submission complies with all of the following items. Submissions that do not adhere to these guidelines may be rejected / returned to authors.


The editors are particularly keen to publish theoretical and/or creative fragments: essays, dialogues (imaginary or real), poems, vignettes, painting, drawing, sculpture, moving image and audio work. 

All contributors can submit to the Journal of Discarded Daydreams via email at journaldiscarded.daydreams@gmail.com

Please include your full details, contact and mail addresses, affiliations (if any), and a short biography when submitting via email.
 




 
EDITORIAL REVIEW PROCESS

The editors review all of the submissions and editorial guidance is given to the author(s), if necessary. Should your submission require revision, you will be invited to resubmit a revised submission, and will be given a deadline depending on the extent of the revisions required. This must be accompanied by a summary detailing the changes that have/have not been made in response to the editors’ and/or reviewers’ comments. When the editors are satisfied that a submission is acceptable for publication, it is sent for production and communicated to the author(s) via email.

Any opinions expressed in the Journal of Discarded Daydreams are those of authors and do not necessarily those of the editors or publisher.

Authors are personally responsible for obtaining permission for the reprint of any previously published material.

The Publisher is authorised to disseminate the submitted material in print and electronic formats following the editorial process.

All submissions must be in English (for submissions in other languages, please contact editors in advance).

CHECKLIST FOR WRITTEN SUBMISSIONS

  • The submission constitutes a response to the Issue’s chosen quote and/or the explicit themes and ethos of the journal as stated on the website and the print version of the journal’s publications.
  • While priority will be given to new, original work, responses to or reflections on fragments of previously published work may be considered; this type of submission should be accompanied by a note of explanation to the editorial team, and the original work must be cited as a primary source.
  • Text-based pieces should be no more than 5,000 words, including footnotes and references. The submission file is in Text or Microsoft Word document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined.  The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font and employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses). Exceptions are accepted for creative written work (pending explanation in Comments to Editor).
  • The submission includes the abstract (max. 150 words) and up to 5 keywords.
  • Page numbers are included and references are included. Follow MLA for in-text referencing and the reference list.
  • Illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, with captions. Illustrations and figures should be sent as separate high-quality files in .jpeg or .gif format with a minimum of 300 DPI.
  • I, the submitting author, and (if applicable on behalf of) the co-author(s), accept and agree that the editorial decisions on submissions are final with no right to appeal.
  • By submitting to the Journal, the author(s) allows the Journal and the Publisher to disseminate the submitted material in print and electronic formats following the editorial process.

CHECKLIST FOR CREATIVE SUBMISSIONS

︎︎︎ Creative submissions can include a short note to the editors (max. 300 words) explaining how their work relates to the quote and/or themes and ethos of the Journal as stated on the website and the print versions of the Journal’s publications


︎︎︎ The submission has not been previously published, or if this is not the case, the author has permission to republish in this form (provide details).


︎︎︎ The submission is in a high-quality digital format, suitable for reproducing in full colour online or in two-colour (riso) print.


︎︎︎ The submission file is in .jpeg, .gif, .mp4, .mp3 format and where relevant is of a minimum 300 DPI. For audio and video files, embeddable links are preferred (e.g. Soundcloud, Vimeo, Youtube).


︎︎︎ Where available, URLs for any associated references have been provided.



︎︎︎ I, the submitting author, and (if applicable on behalf of) the co-author(s), accept and agree that the editorial decisions on submissions are final with no right to appeal.
